i went to mr teh tarik at geylang tristar inn. today 31/10/2011 1245hrs, wanted to buy malay kuehs, the seller a dark skinned probably a bangladeshi. although i show my finger 2 and say dua (two in malay) he say two & yell he dont understand. he’s quite rude… myb they are not trained courtesy etiqutte at all by mr teh tarik management. poor service, food there also not that fantastic. i strongly recommend hajah maimunah restaurant nearby, food good & cheap, kuihs also varieties & yummy. importantly the sellers are local, helpful & friendly.

Went to MTT at Big Splash this morning, service was extremely bad, no one to provide menu, table was dirty, they never even came and wiped off the previous customers mess or take our order. We had to go and get the menu and walk up to provide order. Waited over 30 minutes for a simple roti prata. Asked the waiter and he seemed very arrogant and said have to wait, maybe another 10 minutes. 40 mins for a prata? Come on….we got up and walked out without paying for our teh tarik as we felt this was worst service in Singapore. Never going back there again.

Update: Mr. Teh Tarik Cartel at Tiong Bahru Plaza has closed. Prata Wala now occupies its former premises.

I really like to taste all the delicious food there but unfortunately I have no chance!
I always want to try their food but it is full house everytime I pass by there.
I reach TB Plaza today around 9pm after work. I’m so excited to see that there are some seats at the shop.
I take a seat & wait for a while but I didnt see any staffs there so I decided to walk into the shop. I asked one of the staff where to order food & I was told to go to the counter.
I happily queue up & wait for my turn.
After I order the food the staff told me that “having here sit outside & wait for ordering”. It is about 9.20pm & I’m very HUNGRY!!!
I sit down again. Now I saw a staff taking order at a table next to me. I tried to be patience & wait…..
The staff walk into the shop after taking the orders, He turn back and look at me before he step into the shop & it was about 20m away from me. He asked “You take ur order d?”
I told him haven & he never even listen properly & walk into the shop.
9.30pm & I was told to sit & wait & wait…..
I not sure what will you think when you’re hungry & nobody bother to service & serve you. I only feel disappointed!
I requested to see the manager there. But the staff just said sorry & you can take your order now. It really piss me off!!!!
I always tot that services in Singapore is perfect as the government promoted their services excellent all the while. However I changed my mind today!
This will be the 1st & last I visit this shop.

dun worry mr teh tarik cartel at tiong bahru plaza will be back to 24hrs very soon..problem is with the management whom had delayed so much on their yakky upgrading job to the outdoor refreshing area…..

Yes! I saw the notice they posted. They mentioned the outdoor area is undergoing “renovation”, although I sure didn’t see any renovation going on. I think you may well be right. What a shame! It’s a great 24-hour hangout.

Tiong Bahru Plaza took away the outdoor seating area of Teh Tarik Cartel. What a sin!

It seemed that residents across the road complained to NEA about the noise generated by customers at night.

I tend to focus on writing about eating establishments or events in Singapore, because these are the things that interest me the most and sometimes I stumble across something that a lot of people out there may not know of. I am a big fan of teh tarik ever since I moved to Singapore four years ago, but I haven’t been able to find a place where it caters well to that beverage. It is also nice to know this place is somewhat near where I live. Thanks for the recommendation.

By the way, I am a first time commentor, even though I have visited your site numerous times. Great design, and I love how you cater all your posts to promoting Singapore. I have learned a lot more things about this place (especially in regards to eating places) while going through your site. Thanks!
