Wonderful memories there, and we look forward to go back one day. Thank you for a trip down memory lane.

I was there in early January and it wasn’t too cold. About 15 degrees C.

Yes! I have a blog post for that coming up next week, where I’ll be recommending 3-4 homestays in Yilan (with pictures and reviews). Stay tuned!

Hi Charmian,

You can take the Kamalan bus from Taipei Bus Station to Yilan, which starts from as early as 4:35am based on the schedule here. Then going from Yilan back to Taipei, you can take the same bus back to Taipei Bus Station. Your luggage can go on the bus (they have a compartment for that).

I’m not sure which particular hot spring you are visiting, and can’t advise on whether the staff can help you with your luggage. It’s best to check with the place first before you arrive.

Have fun!

Oh god no. This was spread out over 3 days. I haven’t even started on Luodong Night Market. We were there on consecutive nights because the food was so good — better than those we tried at Taipei night markets!

This looks amazing. I was in Taiwan around the same time as you, and the only Yilan thing that I did was this Lu Sang place in Taipei.

You can flag down a cab along the streets or get your hotel/minsu to call you one. Luodong Night Market is a popular place amongst locals, so any cab driver will know the place. All cabs run on metered fares so you need not worry about getting ripped off. Have fun!
