The bell-shaped stupa is a third smaller than the actual monument at Nakhon Si Thammarat. Do they deliberately give it a faded paint job? Because it sure looks every bit as aged as the original that was built in 555 A.D.! In fact, it looks just like the stupas from the ruins of Ayutthaya! […]

Hi Daphne, thanks for dropping by. Glad to hear that you are headed on your own solo adventure! I’m so sorry, but I’m afraid I don’t have any of this information anymore. It’s been many years, and I bet things have changed now. Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi are a lot more touristy these days compared to back then, so it should be much easier to get to both places. Good luck!

I was inspired by your post and wanted to do a solo trip as well. Ticket and hotel booked (bangkok and kanchanaburi). Do you think you still have the information on the bus number and operating hours from Ayutthaya to kanchanaburi? Also, whats the bus number from kanchanaburi to bangkok? Thank you so much!!

Hi sacrificr,

It was a coincidence that I bump into miss veron’s blog and noticed that you left a comment stating that will be travelling to bangkok alone in November 2010.that is what I am doing too.are you planning to travel to ayutthaya too?if you don’t mind some company, maybe we can heAd there together.i am totally fine with travelling alone, but it’s the taking tuktuk rides down deserted roads that gives me the creeps.I will be arriving on 24th
November.if you want to discuss more, drop me an email:tan.faith7@gmail.com.

My friends and I are going to BKK next week, and Ayutthaya is on our itinery.
I have been “cracking” my brain on the itinery for this place and this page comes in just in time!!

It is a great help.

Thanks for sharing.

Do you believe in Fate? Its by chance that i see your website today as i was searching about Pengerang on the website.

Somehow it drawn me to browse your website. Thereafter, a strange feeling pushes me further to read your blog. By now, you could be thinking i could be some kinda of sick stalker. But sorry to disappoint you, I normally do not have a habit to read blog.

However, I must keep my thumb up for you, a girl alone and adventurous enough to explore the tunnel down the temple….. few men would even dare to do this!

I felt a gush that i should drop this email to you…. if you wish to continue the conversation, I can be reach at s6424585@hotmail.com ……

Meanwhile, please take care…..

Regards,
Stephen Ong

overall i would say that you’re really mature to go around doing such things all alone. very adventurous of you. I guess that in the same position, I would rather than a tourist package tour than to explore thailand on your own. and its really nice of you to share so many pictures along the way. I think feel like “something was missing” when you wrote about your short trip to the death railway, but with so few pictures.

i think on correction would be that the death railway took 18 months to complete. and yes, many people died along the way. its beautiful I would say, yet stands as a sad monument to the realities of war.

that one shot of the train approaching. that one is very nice. very classic. =)

thanks for sharing about your trip. Thanks for the numerous pictures. must have taken you alot of effort to get all this up. at the end of the day. take care. and i’m glad that you’re safe.

merry christmas. and a happy new year.
